So, I'm halfway through the new Prisoner series.

While the original was no masterpiece, I can't help but feel like this show is almost like the first 10 minutes of Matrix Reloaded. Could the writing be less subtle? I could be brain dead and understand that Big-Brother style surveillance is bad.

So for tonight's lullaby I sung Savannah "Haul Away Joe". This is a proud tradition in my family of singing odd tunes for bedtime. Dad used to rock me to sleep singing the Battle Hymn Of The Republic.

Anyway, I get to the second verse "Louis was the king of France before the revolution/.../Then he got his head chopped off that stopped his constitution." when Savannah asked why he got his head chopped off. So I explain the French Revolution real quick and end with "They cut off his head so he wouldn't be king anymore."

She looked at me and said "He'd just be half-king."

I couldn't make it to the third verse.

As un-PC as it is, I really like the Uncle Remus stories. It's a shame that we have to bury a culture in order to make ourselves feel better about a horrible period of history.

Last night, I dreamed that I was in a store and one of the NPC guards of this D&D style town had come in looking for ways to stand out and excel. I remember telling him this: "So, the store is being attacked by bugbears, a family is being accosted by thieves, and the mayor is being poisoned? Where do you go? The bank, `cause if everything's going down at the same time, it's a setup."

That if I was to man a starship with my friends, we'd only be good for scientific analysis and sex with aliens.

Ok, I picked this up for the Wii. Once I found out it has DLC, I said, screw it, I'ma getting it.

Drumming is tough to do in the recliner. But I'm getting better.
Apparently subtlety isn't known to drummers, the pedal needs 345lbs/sqin to move it.
It's hard to play drums when children keep trying to put their hands where you are supposed to hit.
Listening to Savannah say "Can I sing my favorite song? Cheeseburger In Paradise?" is enough to melt this guys heart.

I just found out that RB2 for the Wii has DLC. I was seriously contemplating siphoning off some of the tax refund to buy a Xbox and RB2. But now I'll be able to do it for less than half the cost!

Yay for being a late adapter!

The Marriage Wars:
Current Battles in an Ongoing War.

March 16th, 2009.

A nightly cease-fire had been in effect for the better part of a few weeks, however, it was shattered that night. The Husband Alliance had brought several complaints to the UN against the Wife Coalition for stealing vital sheet resources. These accusations were always met with pure denial. The events of the early morning played out as follows.

The two parties had started the night with the somewhat comfortably, though the tensions of past conflicts still did hang in the air. Most of the night passed without incident, until the Husband Alliance noticed that the Southern Sheet Resources had been annexed. In the interests of peace, the HA substituted other resources (blankets) to protect it's own people. The military brass decided to wait until some time had passed and try to petition the WC for control the next night.

The final straw had come at roughly 5:30 in the morning. After coming back from checking on the controlled Little Baby Peninsula, the Wife Coalition proceeded to annex the Northern Sheet Territory from the Husband Alliance. The HA proceeded to launch action to recapture the Northern Sheet Territory, but had control for less than 10 seconds before the WC aggressively retook the Territory.

This left the Husband Alliance in a small quandary. Rather than risk all out armed conflict that would have awakened sleeping forces in nearby Toddler Union, the Husband Alliance plumbed the depths of the blanket resources and hoped the population wouldn't suffer adverse effects from out-of-season supplies.

The Husband Alliance plans to petition the UN for border security.

Well, I participated in a tournament at my fencing academy tonight for Historical Swordsmanship. I didn't go expecting to do too much aside from get some outside-of-class experience.

I won third place. Not bad for studying for under a year.

The Armour Archive has some nifty links every once in a while. This is one of them.

The Dutch have a monument erected to commemorate Canadian soldiers from WWI who defended them. Apparently one of the Canadian reserve regiments was participating in a memorial march in 2007. There was a 4 year old, standing along the parade route wearing a replica uniform of the Reserves. As the regiment passes, he salutes them. The troops perform an "Eyes Right". That's the command given to parade troops to honor foreign heads of state, Generals, and other extremely important dignitaries.

That is one hell of an honor for him and one hell of a class act by the Canadians. And, to be honest, it's making me a bit misty eyed.

"We do often let permabanned people back in."

Could we perhaps stop calling it "Permabanned", then? 'Cause the name kinda implies permanence, you know?

We could have "Temp Bans" and, I dunno, "Bans" if we don't intend to stick to the forever part.

And I couldn't walk to the shower in a straight line. Now I'm at work, and my equilibrium is still absent. I have to imagine this is what it's like to be drunk.

No sir, I don't like it.
